Privacy Policy

This policy explains what VALUNE, INC. (“Valune,” “we,” “us”) collects through valuneapp.com and the Valune app, how we use it, and the choices you have.
The Valune app isn’t available yet. Before it launches, we’ll update this policy with anything specific to the released app and change the date above.
In short
- We don’t sell your information, and we don’t use it for advertising.
- What you write in Valune is used to run Valune for you: to ask your questions, write your recaps and draw your map.
- To do that, your entries are processed by third-party AI services, including DeepSeek, whose servers are in China. The app explains this and asks for your permission before anything you write is sent.
- You can delete your account and your data from inside the app at any time.
- Valune is for adults 18 and older.
This website
valuneapp.com doesn’t use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers, and it doesn’t load anything from third-party services. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes technical information such as your IP address and browser type to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. If you email us, we use your message and email address to reply.
Information the app collects
- Account information: your email address and password. Passwords are stored by our sign-in provider in hashed form, so we can’t read them.
- What you write and choose: your answers, reflections and notes, and the options you pick in the app.
- What Valune derives from them: recaps, your map of values and beliefs, emotion trends and similar insights.
- Settings and technical information: your device’s time zone and language, the app version, and the logs we need to run and secure the service.
The app doesn’t read your contacts, location or photos. It doesn’t use advertising identifiers or track you across other apps and websites.
How we use information
- To provide Valune’s features, including generating questions, recaps and insights with AI
- To keep Valune secure and prevent abuse
- To respond to you and provide support
- To comply with the law
We don’t use your entries to train AI models.
AI providers
To generate questions, recaps and insights, Valune sends the text each request needs, such as your answers and short excerpts from past entries, to these providers:
- DeepSeek, which processes requests on servers in the People’s Republic of China.
- A text-embedding provider, which turns entries into numbers so Valune can find related past entries. We’ll name this provider here and in the app before launch.
We don’t send your email address or password to AI providers. Before your first entry is sent, the app explains this processing and asks for your permission. Valune can’t work without it, so if you don’t agree, you won’t be able to use the app.
Other service providers
We use a small number of providers to run Valune, and they may use your information only to provide their services to us:
- Supabase, for our database and sign-in, hosted in the United States
- Cloud hosting for our servers, in the United States
- An email delivery service, for sign-up confirmations and password resets
- Cloudflare, for this website
We may also share information when the law requires it, to protect someone’s safety, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case this policy continues to apply to your information.
Where your information is stored
Your account and entries are stored in the United States. Text sent to DeepSeek is processed in China, as described above.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while you have an account. When you delete your account in the app, we delete your account and your entries from our systems. Server logs that may contain technical identifiers are kept for up to 30 days, and backups are overwritten within 7 days.
Your choices
- See your information: your entries and your map are in the app.
- Delete your account: in the app, or by emailing privacy@valuneapp.com from the address you signed up with.
- Withdraw permission for AI processing: delete your account at any time.
- Other requests: depending on where you live, you may have additional rights, such as receiving a copy of your information. Email privacy@valuneapp.com and we’ll respond as the law requires.
Children
Valune is for adults 18 and older. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we’ll delete it.
Security
We encrypt information in transit and limit access to the people who need it to run Valune. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password that you don’t use anywhere else.
Changes to this policy
If we make significant changes, we’ll update the date above and let you know in the app before they take effect.
